Even though coffee communities are facing difficulties with the recent disasters, we saw nothing but smiles and positivity from everyone met. The risk of another natural disaster considered, I decided to head off in December to Sumatra to visit our main partners in North Sumatera, Aceh Gayo and Java. Sumatra Island dominates production with 74.2% of Indonesian coffee grown here with the largest Robusta production in Bengkulu, Lampung and South Sumatra areas. Coffee is one of the best ways to earn a decent income in the agricultural sector and is grown in nearly all the islands across the Indonesian archipelago.
